A Well for Young Strong Mother's Foundation

When I visited YSMF in February, I was overjoyed to see the beautiful property they bought, where they have school, hostel, and training facilities. They're also raising a few goats, sheep and chickens.

What they didn't have is water. It all had to be hauled in. 

The gutting of USAID cut their funding dramatically this year. One of their key priorities is to become more self sustaining. They already have tailoring, hair dressing, and baking training centres that also bring in cash from selling services. I've posted some photos of my visit with descriptions HERE

Since the water started flowing, they've put in a half acre garden. This will both feed them and allow them to sell some vegetables in the market. They have increase their livestock. All of this helps them with ongoing sustainability.

Wells require maintenance so they're charging a nominal amount for water and that will go into a fund to keep things working.
